Another great
day!!!
More technical difficulties late last night/early this
morning, so Monday was not posted until about 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
However, hopefully this one will be posted yet tonight (Tuesday).
Hope you are enjoying the web site! Special thanks to the youth who
helped select the pictures for today!
As you'll see from
the pictures, we expanded the floor out to where the shed had stood (the
one we moved out of the way yesterday). We finished covering it,
then built and erected most of the outside walls! It was an
extremely hot and humid day, however, with one minor rain shower. We
continued to interact in many ways with Joseph and Joyce and their family,
as well as other people in the neighborhood. We have also been
getting to know the people who work through the United Methodist Church's
disaster relief efforts.
Tonight several of
the youth went swimming, and some went to the gulf to check it out.
Tomorrow the whole group plans to go to the gulf on our "day
off."
Bev and Marian
have kept the food coming, and tonight Jim cooked hamburgers and brats
for everyone. We have been amused that down here nobody has heard of
"brats" before! Even when we describe them, they have
never eaten them! (On the other hand, they have crayfish farms here
that look like flooded fields, and they eat what I call
"crawdads" by the heap. Tomorrow we also have a goal of
seeing an alligator (probably at an alligator "farm"), and one
of the youth said his goal was "to eat an alligator" (not the
same one we see). He explained that he heard they taste like
chicken!
We will tell you more
about Joseph, Joyce, and their family on Sunday, June 22nd at our
presentation about our trip. Please plan to attend, and bring a
friend! We will share additional pictures of the trip, and much
more...
